v2.97 with sensible TV download sizes?

This is not because of "full-screen" - the maximum resolution
available from iPlayer is 720p (1280x720)

The reason you are getting 1GB+ files is because of the frame rate -
the downloads you are getting are 50 fps which doubles the size over
the old modes

The one you want (and the one I use for precisely the reasons you have
stated!) is tv25fps

This will ensure you download the 25fps @ 720p version which you
should find is the size you are expecting.
