Cant download Rio videos

Try --tvmode hvfvhigh

That will give you a file a bit smaller than hlshd at 960x540 25fps
If you don't mind a file twice as big (50 fps) you can use --tvmode hvfhd 
for the highest resolution 1280x720 or --tvmode hvfsd for 960x540 at 50fps.

To see which modes are available use get_iplayer --pid p042nw6b -i

For most Red Button and Olympic programmes only HVF modes are available.
