Something I've been playing around with, mainly to find out about Chrome extensions:

You visit the page you want to download a video from, then click the download button.  The Chrome extension passes the URL to a simple webserver running on a local port, which queues the request and downloads by PID when free.

Tested only on Linux, usual disclaimers apply, YMMV etc...
