In the Support Forum thread TQ referenced, you 
should've found links to the guide for manually 
updating from Git HEAD:

This guide is mainly aimed at Win7/8/8.1 users, 
which are OSes with elevated security features; 
On EOL'd WinXP and on WinVista x86 (with UAC 
turned off) that I am using in my desktop & laptop respectively, 
I have write/modify access to "C:\Program Files\get_iplayer" 
hence I can perform the backing-up (renaming) and 
overwriting of both the main script (get_iplayer.pl) 
and the GUI script (get_iplayer.cgi) - I never use 
the latter - manually via standard Windows Explorer; 
no need to deploy the cmd prompt with admin priviledges.
Since you are mainly using the Web PVR GUI, be sure 
to update both scripts - the whole process should be
a piece of Christmas cake to you (pun intended!).
