Thanks Bat. That worked for the Realaudio programme. It also reminded me
of something similar I found sometime ago on the Ubuntu Forums.

mplayer -cache 2048 -bandwidth 9999999 "$rtsp" -vc null -vo null -ao
pcm:fast:waveheader:file="$filename".wav

This code gives a large wav file which can be converted to m4a using
ffmpeg.
