Put 'soaps,lifestyle' into the 'Exclude Categories' box under 'Advanced
Search', and then hit 'Save As Default'? 

I've just committed a change to the git tree which will let you exclude
programmes by name -- but I suspect doing it by category will be more
useful anyway?
