I found I would have problems with my *own* code. :-)
For example the graphical tool gscriptor https://pcsc-tools.apdu.fr/
stores the reader name to use in a configuration file ~/.gscriptor
You would have to select again the reader to use after each unplug/replug.

No.
It was just an idea to, maybe, simplify the code of pcsc-lite.
But in fact the code would not be simpler. And the change has bad side effects.

Please ignore my proposal. It was a bad idea.
