Dear All,

First, a huge thank you to everyone contributing to OpenWrt—I love it and have been using it since Kamikaze.

The import issues arose when I tried to bring 15 devices into Germany at once. I initially created a thread on the forum, and it seemed resolved. I didn’t ask to reopen it because I was in contact with John to work on a solution. And I thought to escalate it publicly wouldn't be a nice move. Unfortunately, we lost touch simply because I couldn't dedicate more time to it, and I fully understand that we all have limited time to spend on such matters.

I later attempted to send a detailed email to the mailing list with an image of the original letter from the German authorities, but that obviously wasn’t the best approach, and it failed. After that, I had to shift my focus to other priorities.

Despite providing the certificates available in the forums, customs and market surveillance authorities deemed them insufficient. I had many calls with different offices.
Regarding the manual, they explained that it would be sufficient if a link (QR code) to the PDF or documentation is provided. However, other required information, such as importer and manufacturer details, must still be included. The most critical issue is that the markings on the device casing itself are not sufficient. I can’t recall all the details at the moment.
To help resolve this, I will reach out again to the Bundesnetzagentur, where I now have direct contacts and phone numbers. If needed, I can provide case numbers, documents, and direct contacts at the Marktüberwachungsbehörde as well.

If I can assist in making these devices compliant for EU users, I’m happy to help. Getting the refund of around €1,300 from the seller was a long and stressful process, which was one reason I had to pause my efforts on this issue. I appreciate that John didn’t pressure me to keep going, as we all have to balance our time and commitments.

Amazon is a poor example when it comes to legally obtaining electronic devices in Germany.

We likely got flagged because we ordered 15 devices at once.

Looking forward to working together toward a solution.

Best regards Elias
