[vote] Create private mailing list for OpenWrt committers

Hi,

> I propose creating a new mailing list that only OpenWrt committers can read. All OpenWrt committers should be subscribed by default, and it should be possible to send messages to the list without requiring a subscription. Additionally, this list should replace the current abuse at openwrt.org and contact at openwrt.org addresses handling with freescout.openwrt.org.

I do like the idea of contact/abuse@ with better spam filtering, however I’m afraid that this quickly becomes a list which is muted by the subscribers, resulting in poor responses. Whenever I started a vote, I sent a direct message to all members after a while to get their attention, even the low-volume -adm list was “too much”. Having the internal list as a combination of “meeting announcements” and (non spam but falsely addressed) “My WiFi is slow please help” emails, doesn’t seem to me as a step forward.

I’m in favor of a private list so certain discussion (security/people/vendor) can be had with the full member group instead of a subset. That said I find it more appealing to have a “duty rotation”’ish thing for contact/abuse at . Without the spam I’m happy to keep an eye on the incoming emails, ideally with a second person, and escalate/forward to the internal/adm/devel list when necessary. Could that be an alternative?

I’m too young for this, this was basically a letterbox?

Thanks Hauke for putting in the time to improve the processes.

Best,
Paul
