Participants:
* Adrian
* Florian
* pepe2k
* neoraider
* ynezz
* Hauke
* tmomas
* lynxis
* richb-hanover
* stintel
# Release blockers for next major release
* kernel versions:
** 4.19: cns3xxx
** 4.14: (ar71xx), at91, ath25, pistachio, rb532, samsung, uml
** pistachio: patches for 5.4 available and tested
* dsa config status?
** [RFC PATCH v2 0/1] Introduce UCI support for configuring DSA VLAN
filter rules
** Would be very nice to have, but not a blocker for the release
* 4K_SECTORS_LIMIT / partial writes problem
(http://lists.openwrt.org/pipermail/openwrt-devel/2020-August/030625.html
,
https://patchwork.ozlabs.org/project/openwrt/patch/20200805211354.3922-1-git@johnthomson.fastmail.com.au/)
* layerscape on 5.4 is still broken
(https://github.com/openwrt/openwrt/pull/3179)
** Look if NXP community kernel has a better solution, if not just merge
this
*** This is currently broken in the FSLC kernels based on 5.4 as well
(not a problem in Yocto, as Yocto never installs the headers of the
kernel actually used, but just a standard package based on the same
mainline version)
* SSL/TLS support by default
** for LuCI over HTTPS we need to develop px5g-wolfssl as well
** wpad-basic-wolfssl by default?
https://lists.infradead.org/pipermail/openwrt-devel/2020-July/030433.html
** Is WPS included? - do we want this insecure thing? Android dropped it
afaik
** Activate it and fix the fallout of the build bots
WPS is part of MultiAP spec as well and sometimes that's the only way to
switch proprietary APs to do 4-addr-mode (WDS) which can be a big advantage.
* support 802.11ad (wil6210) in wpad/mac80211 scripts, so devices can be
added
** old pull request https://github.com/openwrt/openwrt/pull/2417,
https://patchwork.ozlabs.org/project/openwrt/list/?series=141743&state=*
** adding this feature should be ok, looks like nobody cared
** Lynxis has one device
* ieee802.11ax will not be stable for the release, will be merged after
the release into master
* When to remove 4.14 and 4.19 including ar71xx?
** Adrian will write a mail that we will remove the 4.14 targets in 2 or
3 weeks and remove them if nobody complains.
*** CC maintainers from the targets and people who did bigger contributions
** Do it before the branching
** The majority of the targets in Gluon are still on ar71xx
* How to handle 4.19?
** Do we need this for regression testing
** write e mail after the branching about removing it
# Adding new members
* how to handle non committer members?
proposal:
* Change rule from committer to voting right member to not bind this to
commit right any more
* see activity as general activity
Should we get people with voting rights and some with commit rights?
Should non committers have the same voting rights as committers?
Is there a problem when we have more none committers than committers in
the project in the future?
You can also break a lot of boards by writing a bad wiki article.
Rich will make a proposal how to change: https://openwrt.org/rules
* replace committers with people with voting rights
* people with voting rights can request commit rights
# New OpenWrt logo implementation
* in the wiki -> tmomas
* downloads.openwrt.org -> currently no logo, but good idea to implement
it; jow has access
* forum.openwrt.org -> thess
* github.com/openwrt -> already implemented
* bugs.openwrt.org -> ask jow, thess
Questions
* Which colour combination for the wiki navbar?
* take white and blue (dark blue background)
* Which favicon colour combination for all sites?
* take the coloured one with white background
* When to do a coordinated switch for all sites?
* ask people with access when they could do it
* we should do a coordinated change on all sites, within a limited
timeframe (1 week); avoid changing the last site to the new logo in 2021...
* Who updates which site? -> see above
Do we want to have the same style in LuCi?
* We think Jow already did this:
https://github.com/openwrt/luci/commit/63b5f63a420a4f096dda4e67bf811ba2d1e842df
Updates:
* Google seasons of docs
** we abort this as there was not so much activity from our side
# Next meeting?
next one in about 1 month
Send remainder one week before
use Debian Jitsi because they have POTS dial in
