This usually indicates an error at the TLS/HTTPS connection layer, but
we need more information to help.

What version of OpenConnect? What OS? Are you using any non-standard
command-line flags, or just "openconnect vpn.server.com"?

Add the "-vvv" option to give very verbose debugging output, and
include as much of it as you can. (It's fine to obscure IP addresses,
usernames, etc.)
