old Xircom CEM33 doesn't work on kernel 3.2.1 (Gentoo-r2)

Hi,
i tried to setup an (very) old notebook (P3) with a CEM33 pcmcia card,
just for experimental,

net-setup was ok,  ifconfig showed appropriated eth0

but dmesg wrote this to stdout:

xirc2ps_cs 1.0 : Invalid header for LAN_NODE_ID
xirc2ps : no ports available


Linux-Version is 3.2.1-gentoo-r2 (gcc 4.5.3)
it's a minimal iso without sources

do you have any idea, maybe a patch for xirc2ps_cs ?
the latest xirc2ps_cs.c i found is from 1999
