any chance of getting IDE/ATA PCMCIA card to run at PIO4 speed?

Hi,

I'm new to this list and in general to kernel development, but is willing to
get the thing sorted. I have several CF cards with a 16-bit PCMCIA adapter and
I've just got another PCMCIA adapter for the SDHC card (also 16 bit).
According to the rernel logs all these cards get detected as IDE/ATA devices
and report their PIO capability to be different from PIO0, (e.g. PIO2 to PIO4)
but get PIO0 asigned to them. Consequently the transfer rate never exceeds
1.6Mb/s. For comparison the same SD card can do like 10Mb/s+ in a different
reader.

Is there any chance of getting PCMCIA card readers to run at a higher speed /
PIO rating? I have a faint resemblance that CF cards used to run better in 2.4
kernels, but I'm not sure anymore.

Regards,
Max
