FC5 not properly configuring modem of multifunction modem/ethernet card

OK, maybe the correct place is /lib/firmware then. I think that you should take the
3CXEM556.dat file form etc/cis directory and _copy AND rename_ that file to your
/lib/firmware directory --> 3CXEM556.cis, e.g. *.dat-->*.cis.
