Wireless NIC requires manual start

Hello,
My system is a desktop with a pcmcia cradle. After ugrading
to kernel > 2.6.12 & installation of the pcmciautils package my system
fails to bring up the orinoco wireless card automatically after
reboots. However I can manually do a pcmcia-socket-start and operation
is normal. This is the subject bug report #350533 over at debian.
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=350533

I can confirm that the pcmcia-socket-start is actually being run via a
flag file during the start.
orinoco_cs is loaded via /etc/modules
I did a lspci -vvv before a manual pcmcia-socket-start & afterwards,
with only one change for the cardbus device (listed further below)
Can anyone help? Do I need to include more debug information?

Cheers Ben
