Two differences:
1) The card is not detected at boot - it must be removed and reinserted
to be detected
2) The flags on the 16-bit card are wrong (bat dead, bat low, req attn).
On the Cardbus card, they are okay.

Otherwise, it seems to operate like normal.

This deepens the mystery...
