[Linux-parport] parport stopped working with kernel 2.6.10

Fedora Core 3 with kernel 2.6.10-1.770_FC3smp

I have a problem since I updated to kernel 2.6.10

- All 2.6.9 kernels work fine with the same hardware.
- Same kernel 2.6.10 works with different hardware

Hardware that does not work:
Mainboard Asus P5GD2 with Intel Chips 915P and ICH6R on it (I'm not sure
which chip contains the parallel port)

Behaviour:

modprobe parport works without error messages

/var/log/messages shows:

Apr  7 09:36:00 localhost kernel: pnp: Device 00:05 activated.
Apr  7 09:36:00 localhost kernel: parport: PnPBIOS parport detected.
Apr  7 09:36:00 localhost kernel: pnp: Device 00:05 disabled.

when trying to use the parallel port the following mesage is generated:

Apr  7 07:59:05 localhost kernel: ppdev: user-space parallel port driver
Apr  7 07:59:05 localhost kernel: ppdev0: no associated port!


any ideas or similar problems ?
