[Linux-parport] Simple interface

Hi-

I'm trying to make a simple serial EEPROM burner running of a parallel
port.  I need to output 4 bits and read 1 from the parport. I've done this
before before this new driver architecture by just banging on /dev/port

Where can I find a description of driving a simple custom interface?  
How do I register the data lines on the strobe and/or other conditions?
