thanks Stef, i'am planning to write a driver for my printer ( user space driver ) could someone point me to where i
should start ? i have read the Linux - 2.4 parallel port subsystem ( a pdf doc) available on the net and could
understand how the layers are built over the lower level drivers for the parallel port, but couldnt figure out how to
send a charecter to the printer using the higher layers . i tried /dev/parport0 but it failed as i mentioned already.
Any pointers or advice would be helpfull

thank you.

cheers,
Amith
