Do you think that you could check with the OEM for updated firmware 
(that reports NAWUPF)?

You IBM guys (I guess that you work together) have been a great help for 
the atomic writes work, and I think that it would be unfortunate to lose 
the atomic write capability for the drives which you use. Or lose 
automatic capability (like in this patch).
