Multiple adapters with one SSID

I hope someone can assist.  I have been searching for days now, but cannot
find more information on the topic.

I would like to use multiple adapters on one SSID to increase throughput.
 I have multiple USB wifi adapters, all of them exactly the same.  Is this
possible?  How should I configure hostapd?  Is there maybe additional
commands needed with iw?
