hostapd 0.7.3 can't read private key generated by openssl ?

I used the openssl generated private key with hostapd 0.7.3 ( actually libeap.so ). But when I configure tls private_key to use openssl generated server.key or server.pem, it says :-

PKCS #5: unsupported algorithm 1.2.840.113549.1.5.13

The server.key is generated using a bootstrap shell script from freeradius. If I can't tweak hostapd to read this, can I tweak the bootstrap shell script to use other algorithms supported by hostapd 0.7.3 ?
