I'm unable to reproduce this. Which version of wpa_supplicant and
OpenSSL are you using?

Could you please send backtrace from the segmentation fault (e.g., run
"gdb ./wpa_supplicant core" and "bt" in gdb)? Please also send a more
verbose debug log (-dd on wpa_supplicant command line; if you are using
a test certificate/private key and do not care about the keys getting
revealed, you could also add -k on the command line to allow more
details to be included).
