WPS - pin

The PIN is not used in quite the same manner as a PSK. With a PSK, if both the supplicant and authenticator have the same value, authentication will succeed. But in WSC, the PIN value of the enrollee is entered into the registrar. The AP's PIN is used when it is acting as an enrollee and not if it is acting as a registrar. What you are trying to do below might work if the STA was also a registrar, but this is unlikely.

So the reason you are seeing M2D is truly because the AP (registrar) doesn't know the STA's (enrollee) PIN because it can't assume that it's PIN is the same as the enrollee's PIN.

Looking at the state diagram (Figure 8) in the WSC specification, the registrar can send either M2D or EAP-Failure in response to a WSC_ACK in this case. In some network configurations, there could be additional registrars communicating through this AP and each might need to send an M2D in response to the M1. But most likely, you will see no response to the WSC_ACK or perhaps an EAP-Failure.

Subject: WPS - pin

Hi

I am working with WPS pin mode, while i entered the STA pin number to the AP
, I have no problem
but when i am entered the AP pin number to the STA it's not working

in the Spec i understand that if the AP know the number M2 message will be
send but if he dont know the number M2D message will send than the STA nedd
to send
WSC_ACK and than the AP need to keep sending messge

I have to question about this

1. why i got M2D message and not M2 message if I confiured the same number
in the STA & AP
2. why the AP send no message after he got WSC_ACK

Thank

Ronit
