rt61 device works in master mode with hostapd 0.6.4 but not 0.6.7 or 0.7.0

Hi,

I have been using hostapd 0.6.4 for my rt61 PCI device since about October
with no problems. Recently I upgraded both the kernel drivers for rt2x00 and
hostapd and I can no longer get the master mode working. I would appreciate
if you have any insights on how I can upgrade to recent versions of hostapd
without breaking my configuration.

I'm back to my original configuration now with hostapd 0.6.4 and the
modified rt2x00 kernel 2.6.27-rc6-wl. When I run hostapd I can see STAs
getting authenticated correctly:

When I run hostapd 0.6.4 with the new rt2x00 kernel -2.6.29-rc2-wl it
repeatedly tries to associate with the STA:

Both hostapd versions 0.6.7 and 0.7.0 refuse to work with the older rt2x00
kernel driver, but show similar repeated authentication entries with newer
rt2x00 kernel:
