Kernel 2.6.18-2 HostAP

Hi,
   Is it sufficient to use the hostap module that comes with the kernel
2.6.18-2 to enable AP mode on Linksys WPC11?Moreover, my goal is to
implement QoS(802.11e like) in the Access Point.To achieve this do I also
need hostapd and any other package?
