Thanks,
This is the output from lsmod:

hostap_pci 53237 0
hostap 102345 1 hostap_pci
nvram 8393 0
orinoco_pci 7757 0
orinoco 36565 1 orinoco_pci
hermes 7489 2 orinoco_pci,orinoco
ohci1394 31749 0

Looks like both orinoco and hostap are loaded, but I'm pretty sure hostap is the one that's used because my wireless interface is called wlan0 and I have wifi0 there too. I am not sure what version though, it came with my FC5 installation so I'm pretty sure it's quite new.
here is the debug output:
>> wpa_supplicant -iwlan0 -c/etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf -Dhostap -wdd

It just keeps looping at the following output (Maybe because my ESSID isn't broadcasted it misses it?):

Scan results: 1
Selecting BSS from priority group 0

Which driver version are you using?

Could you please send debug output (i.e., add -dd to that command line)?
Without it, there is not enough verbosity to figure out what is
happening.
