Let's say we also want to run this in a fully wired environment... the 
virtual interfaces are not a problem, and they will probably work with the 
planned updates to hostapd. Is this correct?

By the way, I was looking at the wired support in hostapd, which is quite 
interesting; is the sourceforge PAE module[1] from Gunter Burchardt still 
required for multiple client support?
