-Dwext would be highly preferred and with that, you would need to direct
this question to Broadcom since wpa_supplicant has support for wireless
extensions already.. ;-)

Maintaining the driver-specific interface for a closed source driver
would require someone who is willing to do that over all driver
interface changes after figuring out what exactly changed in a black
box.. And all this for a driver that is not even publicly available for
common targets like x86.
