Unable to connect to AP via WPA-PKS/CCMP

Hi

I am using hostap-driver 0.4.4 and wpa_supplicant 0.4.4 (Gentoo) to connect 
via WPA-PSK to an access point. Recently, I updated the firmware of my 
wireless pcmcia card to v1.1.1 (primary) and v1.8.4 (secondary). The 
output of `hostap_diag -a wlan0` is contained in the attached file 
"hostap_diag.wlan0". My wpa_supplicant.conf is also attached to this 
e-mail.

When I run
# wpa_supplicant -ddd -c /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf -i wlan0
the following error/warning is printed:
ioctl[SIOCSIWPMKSA]: Operation not supported

The attached "kernel.log" is a dump of the kernel messages printed during 
this procedure. Note that the kernel module hostap_crypt_ccmp is not 
loaded. Loading it manually, does not help. Maybe it would have been 
loaded at a later stage, if the connection was successful.

How would you approach this problem?
Is it a potential firmware issue?
Is it caused by the unsupported ioctl?
