Stumpped, trying to get WPA to work on Ubuntu (Breezy)

Its a unadulterated install of ubuntu (kubuntu to be exact).  Last ubuntu
install had the the 'eth' names too.  I don't know why this occurres, maybe
it's a hardware thing.

In the past I've tried to change the name to wlan0 but could never figure it
out.

<the worse part> I did a fresh install yesterday, got WPA to work (somehow),
thought I better document it for the next person, reinstalled today and can't
get it to work (I must have done something, but sure can remember or figure
out what)

I did ifconfig -a and wpa_supplicant on eth2 like you asked below
