multiple wpa_supplicant on same interface

as you might remember I'm trying to modify wpa_supplicant to make it work
in a mesh ad-hoc network. this means that every node should act as an
authenticator and supplicant (towards more then one authenticator, the
sourronding nodes). As this is getting quite difficult, in the meantime
I'd like to have an intermediate solution, giving every machine two nics,
one working as AP and one working as supplicant to sourronding nodes.

Ideally the best solution would be to have on just one nic, a virtual
interface working as AP and multiple vitual interfaces each one running as
a supplicant and connecting to neighbours.
