AP to transmit packets at different channels

Hi guys,

Is there any way that a AP (using hostAP drivers) which is functioning
normally and supporting clients etc, transmit a single packet (dont
need any reception for this, not even ACK) on a different channel
without dropping the clients?

In other words can the AP transmit some packets at a different channel
without breaking the connection with the clients already associated
with it.

Any help/pointers is appreciated.
