madwifi wpa and wpa_supplicant not recognizing AP

Hi,
the logs of my first posting have been generated with
kismet running on ath0, without (kismet and the second card removed) the picture is different:

Last line appears, when starting wpa_supplicant.
So I would say no scanning takes place at all?
