Hostapd and 802.1x "optional"?

Hi,
i was wondering if it is possible to have one AP being used for both
"plain" and "802.1x protected" clients.
I am aware that windows clients will not try 802.1x by themselves.
The idea i have is that the client is allowed in unencrypted without
802.1x. He can then access some page - preferrably over https or other
secure means - and is then "kicked" out of the AP and when it tries to
reassociate/reauthenticate 802.1x will be required.
Is that possible with the hostap driver (given i do the required changes
to hostapd)? Or is this not supported by the hardware?

Thank you.
