Acquiring info on backoff or CW

Dear all,
I spent almost a day googling (and trying to dig into the code) to find
anything close to an answer to the following question, obviously with no
luck. My question is:
is it possible to track the value of the Contention Window and, even
better, of the number of backoff slots for each frame to be sent?

I suppose the answer, if any, is related to some read-only RID, but I
can't figure out which exactly. As noted earlier in this list, I assume
that all the CW stuff is managed by the firmware and not by the driver,
but I hope it is somehow readable. I found a paper reporting some
measurements of the number of backoff slots using PCMCIA Lucent cards, but
no hints were given, nor I had any luck looking for a solution using those
Orinoco cards.

Should it be relevant, currently I am using v0.0.3 on a DWL650, flashed as
follows, on a 2.4.20 kernel with we16 and wireless tools 26pre9:

NICID: id=0x800c v1.0.0 (PRISM II (2.5) PCMCIA (SST parallel flash))
PRIID: id=0x0015 v1.1.1
STAID: id=0x001f v1.5.6 (station firmware)

Regards,
Stefano
