slow data transfer over hostap

Hi,
i have problem with data transfer between clients over hostap.
Data transfer from hostap to client is OK, i reach about 500kB/s
(from both), but between clients is speed about 80kB/s (tested with scp).

I also tried this tests with ping:

-from both clients to hostap, no lost packet
ping -s 1400 -f 192.168.1.1

-from client to client over hostap:
ping -s 1400 -i 0.02 192.168.1.4

results:
1408 bytes from 192.168.1.4: icmp_seq=0 ttl=62 time=21.280 msec

with 66% packet loss.

I can see in /proc/net/hostap, that rx packets goes from both clients
only on 1Mbit. Tx to both clients keeps at 11Mbit. Few seconds after
stoping test rx packets to hostap goes again in 11Mbit.

Hostap is running on C366, 64MB, intel lx chipset and ZI-626, clients
is 486/80mhz, 16Mb ram with orinoco. All computers have redhat
linux 7.3 with latest redhat kernel (2.4.18-18.7.x), lastest wireless tools
(wireless-tools-25-1). Hostap is CVS version from 7.1.2003.
(I also tried version from 12.10.2002 with identical results)

Clients are routers for 2 local networks, where are computes with Windows.
They cannot copy data over hostap, because data transfer causes overload
of wireles network, even often file data transfer failed. Slow data
transfers
(browsing internet) is without problem.

Signal quality on first klient is 18, on second is 15. Hostap have signal
quality
for first client 17, for second 13.

Thank you for any suggestion.

Jarda
