I think this is a result of some poor housekeeping.
Since 12.1 release there have been some significant changes to the  
packages/libs involved. And I suspect not much has been done in  
maintaining them. I also know Alistair was at one time using a Patched  
version of get_iplayer and flvstreamer

It's the most important part of multimedia in openSUSE.
It may involve roll backs, which is fine.
