If this happens again, you can do a bit of diagnosis before hitting the 
mailing list:  Run get_iplayer with --debug and then search the captured 
output for the string "notavailable".  If you find a line that looks like:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><mediaSelection 
xmlns="http://bbc.co.uk/2008/mp/mediaselection"><error 
id="notavailable"/></mediaSelection>

then it means what it says - the programme is not yet available from the 
iPlayer distribution networks.  As other respondents have pointed out, 
this happens occasionally, though not usually so widespread.
