Trouble downloading to USA

I am a new get_iplayer user. I have not been able to get it to work.

I understand the UK IP issue and have tried going through a proxy. 
However, I never seem to be able to get a download to work. I get the 
following error:

WARNING: No programmes are available for this pid
ERROR: Could not get version pid metadata
