A pull request summary for changes to date is at the end of this 
message. All the commits are properly attributed to their authors, and 
you should get a clean merge if you pull them.

As for whether all those changes should be incorporated, I would urge 
anyone interested to look at the commit history here:

I don't think anything is particularly controversial there, but if 
anyone finds a problem or objects to something or has another patch to 
advocate, sound off on the list.
