FYI, the status of these pieces is that in the other end of the
dependency chain is changes to drivers/hwspinlock that have been
accepted by Ohad (maintainer) but haven't appeared in -next. So I'm
awaiting them hitting mainline, so that I can roll out the next set of
changes, leading up to the patches here.

Based on current feedback I'm hoping to get these things in place
during the next cycle.
