I recall seeing similar problem when scanning while connected. Without 
knowing the details I suspect the scan offloading in FW is rather 
primitive. Prima has a lot of code related to scanning. It's sending one 
scan command per channel IIRC. I think there are examples of scan in the 
dissector git.
