Atheros AR8151 VPD access?

Hello,
 
Linux kernel has a patch to Prevent VPD access for buggy devices;

This affects my device; 'Ethernet controller: Qualcomm Atheros AR8151 v2.0 Gigabit Ethernet (rev c0)'
 
According to the patch, 'some vendors do not follow the VPD format spec'
 
Will there be any changes soon to follow the VPD format spec for the AR8151, or is there any patch out there I can apply to the kernel to correct this?
