In fact the code "worked" because it is a bug in Ievgenii code.
I fixed it in https://github.com/eugmes/cardlock/pull/4

With the fix I see that SCardCancel() does NOT cancel SCardConnect().
Stephan, can you also confirm you have the same behaviour?
