  Business Plan 2006-2009

  Charging policy
Two rates are used, one for normal use and one for conferences and there
are also a number of free/reduced rate events currently approved by John
  Cowin or Margaret Walker.

The biggest difference between the Guildhall pricing structure and that
of the Corn Exchange is in its rigidity. The Guildhall fees are set
annually by members as part of the review of charges in the budget
cycle. The Corn Exchange promotes or jointly promotes more than half of
the events it stages (as opposed to hiring the hall to someone else who
organises the event). Regarding the hall hires/private promotions, the
Corn Exchange will negotiate on price to maximise income and/or achieve
  programming aims.

At present the Council does not benefit from catering/bar spend at
events staged in the Guildhall primarily because users are free to
  appoint their own caterers.
