Name resolution / browser behaviour

Good morning all,

I rebuilt my laptop (Linux Mint 15 64 bit Xfce Edition) and switched
to openconnect from Cisco's anyconnect client. I have no trouble
bringing the vpn tunnel up, but I get some strange behaviour in my
browser once I am connected.

Examples:

* unable to access any Google services, including plain old google
search. Going to google.com or to any other Google service (we use
google apps at work), my browser just spins and eventually times out.

* other external websites seem to work just fine.

* going to an internal website nets me some very strange behaviour.
E.g., I have WebSphere installed. I can browse to the WebSphere
console, I can log in to said console, but I cannot access anything
within the console. To clarify: I log into the console, I get to the
default landing page. I expand a menu item in the side bar and click
one of the links, say the link that gets me to my list of application
servers, and the page just spins until it eventually times out.

* same behaviour with a forgerock OpenAM installation I have (runs on
tomcat). I can log into the OpenAM console, get to the default landing
page, but cannot access anything else within the console. Clicking any
link within the console results in the page spinning until it times
out.

This all seems like DNS resolution stuff, but the fact that I can get
into my WAS and OpenAM consoles just fine but not access anything else
within them has me scratching my head.

Any direction is greatly appreciated.
