pcmcia disk drive doesn't work

synopsis:
there is pcmcia disk drive: Toshiba MK5002MPL HDD1232 A ZP01

it worked fine on my old Debian system based on 2.6.8 kernel. But I
changed the system to new one - Ubuntu 8.04 based on 2.6.24 kernel. i
was surprised that my card doesn't work on new system. 
looks like the card is identified but nevertheless gos unworkable. look
at the dmesg log:

i studied what is written for pcmcia devises but didn't find the
solution. perhaps my device little bit exotic but i used it and it works
fine on Windows and previous Linux system
