After much meddling I managed to get the Aircard 850 assigned a TTY.
When I insert the card into the PCMCIA slot I hear two beeps and see the
following in syslog:
Jun 21 00:57:36 lab001 kernel: pccard: PCMCIA card inserted into slot 0
Jun 21 00:57:36 lab001 kernel: pcmcia: registering new device pcmcia0.0

Jun 21 00:57:36 lab001 cardmgr[6857]: + Default modem setup
I set wvdial to use /dev/ttyS0, but get the following error message when I run
wvdial:
lab001:~# wvdial
--> WvDial: Internet dialer version 1.56
--> Cannot open /dev/ttyS0: Input/output error
--> Cannot open /dev/ttyS0: Input/output error
--> Cannot open /dev/ttyS0: Input/output error
I tried running minicom and typing AT but I don't see the AT I typed. I'm not
sure if this is connected but when I start cardmgr I see the following errors:
lab001:~# cardmgr -v
cardmgr[7219]: could not adjust resource: IO ports 0x100-0x3af: Function not implemented
cardmgr[7219]: could not adjust resource: IO ports 0x3e0-0x4ff: Function not implemented

Any ideas what is causing the input/output error in wvdial on /dev/ttyS0? Is
that connected to the errors I see when starting cardmgr?
Thanks,
Josh
