Sorry folks, I've pressed __send__ button too early in the previous posting
HI All,
It does not matter what I do, the kernel (or OS ?) does not recognize
a standard NI GPIB PCMCIA card.
hardware:
IBM ThinkPad T22
RAM 384MB
00:02.0 CardBus bridge: Texas Instruments PC1450 (rev 03)
00:02.1 CardBus bridge: Texas Instruments PC1450 (rev 03)
OS: Fedora Core 6 (kernel 2.6.18-1.2798.fc6xen
CentOS 4.4 (kernel 2.6.9-34.EL)
CentOS 4.4 (kernel 2.6.18.6)
CentOS 4.4 (kernel 2.6.19.3)
CentOS 4.4 (kernel 2.6.9-42.EL)
I've tried all the options from above. On all CentOS versions the
card is recognised a 'Anonymous Memory" and the pcmcia subsystem
tries to load the memory_cs.
Log files slightly differ... but more or less I get the following output
Feb 19 09:02:32 localhost kernel: pccard: PCMCIA card inserted into slot 0
Feb 19 09:02:32 localhost kernel: cs: memory probe

failed: Invalid argument
The Fedora Core 6 is different. It does not complain about
'memory_cs". At the end, the result is the same.
The NI GPIB card is not recognized.
The 'pccardctl ident' (cardctl ident) brings __nothing__ back.
Socket 0:
no product info available
pccardctl status (cardctl status)
Socket 0:
5V 16-bit PC Card

however, when I do the same tests on ThinkPad T43, results are different

hardware:
IBM ThinkPad T43
RAM 1GB
04:00.0 CardBus bridge: Ricoh Co Ltd RL5c476 II (rev 8d)
OS: CentOS 4.4 (kernel 2.6.9-34.EL)
cardctl ident
Socket 0:

manfid: 0x010b, 0x4882
cardctl status

What I am doing wrong ?
Any hint | advice | solution | explanation | help is more than welcome

Igor
